About
The Ranallo-Tapia Duo brings together Mexican pianist Yolanda Tapia and American guitarist Leonard Ranallo, whose musical connection began during artist residencies at the Banff Centre. They found a strong artistic spark and a shared love for music that blends classical, jazz, and Latin American folk traditions.
Their programs feature music from across the Americas, highlighting composers who bridge folk and classical styles in unique ways. With guitar and piano—two instruments rooted in both Western and folk traditions—they explore the rich textures and rhythms of 20th- and 21st-century music from the continent.

Mission
Committed to showcasing the musical tapestry of the guitar and piano repertoire by performing and curating programs that blend classical, jazz, samba, Afro-Cuban, and other world music styles. Through engaging performances, educational outreach, and thoughtful programming, we aim to reflect the cultural diversity and interconnectedness of the American continent, building bridges between traditions and communities across Canada and beyond.
Vision
To create meaningful connections across cultures and generations through music that celebrates the diverse sonic landscape of the Americas, fostering appreciation for both classical and folk traditions in inclusive, accessible, and artistically enriching ways.
